The Faculty of Law

The Law Faculty

of the Lusófona University, in spite of its youth, is already – within the institutions of higher education, public or private, that assume the research and teaching of law in Portugal – a strong reference.

And such a projection results from several factors of which, without a shadow of a doubt, we can highlight firstly, a teaching staff of the highest quality, who want to be continuously renewed and who, even in the most adverse situations, fully assume the challenges and, in an extraordinary way, reinvent themselves to better teach and research; then, their geographical insertion in a campus, in so many ways, privileged; Then, without trying to give any order or sequence to these factors, it is only fair to point out that the Faculty is anchored in a certain idea of University that privileges, as an essential pedagogical axis, the strong relationship, of a virtuous complicity, between lecturer and student, without however limiting their creative spirit and freedom to be persons and agents of citizenship;  and also, and here we stop, to be able to state, without hesitation, that we are part of and a driving force behind a legal culture that is rooted in national territory but which does not give up its wings in order to seek enrichment from other nations and cultures, especially those that share centuries and centuries of history with us (Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor, Macau). And more. All this without forgetting, of course, international relations, especially those intertwined with the European legal world.

Therefore, coming to study with us is to be sure that, here, you will find seriousness, innovation, accompaniment, complicity in the search for the future, which is also the search for work, but, undeniably, the certainty that critical jurists of full spirit are being trained here.
With this, we can say, without false modesty, that being in the Faculty of Law of the Lusófona University of Lisbon is to be part of a plural, knowledgeable, demanding, critical, sober legal community, open to everything that is new and that does not need to proclaim it.
